Thousands of Pounds of Marble Are a Girls Best Friend

We left Jaipur, on another of the many trains I will never fall asleep on, early in the morning headed to Agra.  I think it is physically impossible for me to fit my 5 foot 9 legs in these little indian trains as Emily and Maryn just curl up and snore happily next to me.  Anyways, after the 5 hour train ride we arrived in Agra home of the Taj Mahal.

Our tour guide (DJ) gave us the beginning of the day to do our own thing and explore, so we decided to go on a hunt for sunscreen.  DJ gave us simple directions on where go (take your first left and it should be right there) but he either lied or we are so navigationally challenged that we ended up walking for half an hour trying to find a pharmacy.  Im kind of glad we got lost though, we got to see a normal indian neighbourhood, instead of the crazy hustle and bustle of the main streets.

Next we went to the Baby Taj, which was actually built before the big taj and was named something else, but I dont know what it is.  Sorry you can google it yourself I suppose.

That night we went to dinner and it was hands down the best food in India, everyone looovvved their food and it was on this roof top where the entire building was covered in star of david(?).
Later that night we all decided to drink in our hotel so DJ bought booze so we didnt get charged tourist prices.  A bottle of rum was 400 rupees. 400 RUPEES!! Thats $7 Canadian.  A 12 pack of tall boys was £120. THATS $2!! Needless to say it was a fun night where we learned that boys from denmark have zero rhythm.
The next morning we went to the Agra fort which was huge. Again we misunderstood DJ’s instructions on where to go and we found a part of the fort where no one else was near the toilets. This woman kept yelling at us that we werent allowed to be there, but were on a strict its better to say sorry than ask for permission attitude for this trip.  Also when we came around the corner she was squatting by the side of the forts peeing, while we were literally right beside toilets, so I felt she had no authority there.

Finally at the end of the day we made it to Taj. We spent probably 2 hours of just taking tourisy pictures, where Emily and I struggled to jump at the same time, and then heard the story of how Taj Mahal was built and how much the emperor loved his third wife, spending 22 years and the equivolent of 44 million dollars on her tomb.  But dont worry his other two wives got some gates.
